Every December, men across the world participate in a tradition called Decembeard. This tradition consists of growing out their beards for the month of December to raise awareness and money for bowel cancer research.

What is Bowel Cancer?
Bowel cancer is a type of cancer that affects the large intestine (colon). It begins in the cells lining the inside of the colon. The bowel can be affected in different ways, including a tumor or ulceration. Bowel cancer can also affect other parts of the digestive system, such as the small intestine and rectum.

- Almost 43,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year in the UK.
- Approximately 268,000 UK residents have been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
- More than 16,500 people die from bowel cancer in the UK every year.
How Can You Help?
This December, Bowel Cancer UK are asking you to grow a beard to support everyone affected by bowel cancer. By asking your friends and family to sponsor you to ditch the razor this month, you can pledge to raise at least £100 towards research.
