Working from home is great but one of the main events that I miss from the office is occurring right now, it’s Movember! The month when you get to see a facial hair race between your colleagues and it’s all for a good cause. It’s great when your friends take part in Movember but there’s just something hilarious about watching Dave from accounts sprout a mighty moustache and start acting like a Viking. Then as soon as it’s shaved off, he returns to his normal, quiet self and you don’t hear from him until next November. **Name changed for HR purposes and because we’re a bit scared of Viking man during Movember**
In case you haven’t heard, Movember is when you get sponsored by friends, family and colleagues to grow a moustache during November. The money raised is used across a wide variety of projects and charities to support men’s health. Grow a Mo and save a Bro! Movember has a huge following, and each year people get increasingly inventive with their moustache styles. Needless to say, we think 2021 is going to be a corker!
If you are partaking in Movember then you might need to start thinking about maintaining and styling your new facial hair. That’s where we come in. At Healthpharm we stock a wide range of men’s shaving and grooming products for use all year round, but especially important for Movember participants.
Your Movember Toolkit is as follows:
Shaving Foam/Gel – You probably already have this shaving staple in your bathroom, but Movember is a great opportunity to up your game. Changing to a better-quality shaving foam will improve the quality of your shave and trust us, your skin will thank you!
If your skin is getting irritated by all your moustache shaping then we highly recommend Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling Gel. This gel is designed with ultra-glide technology for a smooth shave and 0% alcohol to reduce stinging.
Razor – Unless you shaved off a giant beard as a Movember sacrifice, it’s safe to assume you already have a razor, but is it doing exactly what you need? We know blades are expensive but whatever razor you use it’s crucial that you aren’t using blunt blades, especially when trying to shape facial hair.
If you’re already sprouting a face bush, then you might need a beard trimmer to keep it under control but even then you’ll need a razor for the rest of your face. The Gillette Fusion Proglide Styler has been designed for the ultimate close shave and the precision blade allows for precise edging of facial hair.
If you’re using disposable razors, then it’s definitely time to upgrade. No amount of fundraising for Movember is worth slicing your lips off in the quest for moustache perfection. If you insist on sticking with disposables, then we have a great first aid range but we would rather you didn’t need to use it!
Beard Oil – If you’re normally clean-shaven, or a stubble kinda guy, then beard oil might be a new one to you, so bear with us. Beard oil is used to make facial hair look fuller, softer and helps to moisturise the hair and the skin below. In short, it stops your facial hair from looking like pubic hair.
Every Man Jack Beard Oil does everything you need, has no harsh chemicals and smells amazing. It contains a blend of natural oils including sage, rosemary and cedarwood – isn’t that exactly what a moustache should smell like?
Post Shave Balm – Regardless of your shaving foam and razor, there’s no avoiding the fact that shaving daily is harsh on your skin. The best way to protect your skin from dreaded razor burn and keep it moisturised is with a good quality post-shave balm. Palmolive for men is a mild formula ideal for daily use and uses palm extract to keep your skin in tip-top condition.
If you’re a tiny bit of a sadist and enjoy a bracing splash of aftershave then check out Dior Sauvage aftershave. After the initial sting, it works to soothe and protect your skin.
Styling wax – If you’re looking at styling wax then that’s the ultimate humblebrag - and we love it! Your moustache has grown into something spectacular and needs taming into a magnificent creation. Acqua di Parma Barbiere beard styling cream has a soft mouldable texture and is perfect for both everyday styling and more extreme looks. It has great hold but isn’t sticky or greasy, what more can you ask for?
If it’s all a bit overwhelming and you would find it easier to buy everything at once then have a look at our range of beard grooming gift sets. The Hawkins and Brimble male grooming gift set is perfect as a treat for yourself or makes an ideal Christmas present.
At Healthpharm we love hair. We love dying it, shaving it, removing it, styling it and caring for it. We love everything to do with it and we make sure to stock a great range of products for all aspects of hair care. Above all we love looking at great photos of Movember moustaches so please be sure to tag us in any of your Movember Social Media uploads!
